Achieving the DreamEach month Lone Star College-Kingwood will report on programs being implemented as part of the Achieving the Dream initiative in the Lone Star College System. We will share our procedures, progress, what works, what doesn’t. For this first e-newsletter, we focus on our first implementation: Early Intervention (EI), and briefly describe our progress and plans for additional Achieving the Dream initiatives, such as Fall 2008’s Student Success course and Community Engagement initiative.

The Early Intervention program stemmed from Task Force 1’s charge to design a system that identifies and intervenes with students who are at risk of failing or withdrawing. The goal of the early intervention system is to improve retention and completion rates.
